Musical Director - Martin Rutishauser
Festival Music Director and Conductor Martin Rutishauser's first three years have ended with the concert audience on its feet and the chorus breathless. Martin has been a guest conductor of the Long Island Symphonic Choral Association several times in the past few years, and also conducts choruses at the Collegiate School in New York. He is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Ibex Chamber Orchestra. Martin studied at the Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg, Germany; at Brown and Columbia Universities and counts noted conductors Joseph Rosenstock, Sir Edward Downes, Chrarles Bruck and Vincent La Selva among his mentors. He has led numberous oratorio, opera and orchestral performances in the United States and in Europe. He has conducted many premieres as well as the standard repertoire and has collaborated with notable soloists, including pianists Vladimir Feltsman and Lorin Hollander, cellist Matt Haimovits, lead singers from the Metropolitan Opera and other prominent opera houses. Martin brings his energy and his enthusiasm for music and people to our podium, and he returns to us again this summer with an exciting 10th Anniversary program of "greatest hit" selections from the festival's first 9 years. |
